A morning project

image

Last night I taught a class for beginning knitters, or should we say a class designed to boost the knitting confidence of dormant knitters. One of the participants brought with her a fantastic little knitting pattern by Pruline. I cast on and finished the first one last night and this morning after making it to work through the snow, I decided to finish the little pair - here they are on my Rav page. The picture is taken out on the balcony in the snow. Very happy with them :)

Knitting workshop in Faroe Islands

image

I’m so lucky! A couple of weeks ago I got to travel for the third time this year to the Faroe Islands. This time to teach a weekend long knitting workshop at Norðurlandahúsið, a Nordic culture house located in Tórshavn, the tiny capital. The workshop was awesome - 50 knitters showed up - that’s one in every 1000 inhabitants of the islands - plus I got to work again with one of my favorite people in the world, Faroese designer Katrína í Geil.

Dagur and his scarf

image

Dagur is a friend of mine. He’s 18 and plays on the national golf team. He also knits and is so committed to learning new things and has a totally fearless approach to knitting. He wanted to prove to his schoolmates that he could knit a really awesome scarf so he came to me and got a little help, designed it, picked out some chunky alpaca and finished knitting it in a couple of weeks. It’s totally awesome and I’m sure his schoolmates will be insanely jealous!
